How the estimates work
WordPress.org reports active installs only as a rounded bucket, so anything between 50,000 and 60,000 users looks identical. We snapshot the whole catalog every day. The instant a bucket changes we know the true count was exactly that boundary, and we project forward from those anchors. Every figure carries a confidence level, and where the data is not there yet we say so rather than guess.
